Jermaine Jackson shed tears like everybody else when Michael Jackson died. Could Jermaine be feeling guilty about a song he wrong called “Word To The Bad,” where he took shots at his baby brother? Check out the song and the lyrics and listen to the beef that really didn’t get much exposure to the public.

Lyrics after the jump!

What up yo, word to the badd

Been abducted
Don’t know who you are
They may love you
they don’t know you
Lonely superstar
never think about who you love
only think about number one
You forget about where you started from
You only think about what you want
don’t care about how it’s done
you only think about you, your throne
Be it right or be it wrong

It ain’t about your world
It ain’t about the things that you do
If you don’t care, I don’t care
Cause you keep thinkin’ ’bout you
It ain’t about you takin’ my pie
You been takin’ for a long time
If you don’t care, I don’t care
If you keep
Well I ain’t thinkin’ ’bout you

What up yo, word to the badd

Once you were made
You changed your shade
Was your color wrong?
Could not turn back
It’s a known fact
You were too far gone
You know I tried to be there for you
Like a brother I care for you
It didn’t matter you always play me off
You only care about what you want
You don’t care about how it’s done
You only think about you, your throne
Be it right or wrong

It ain’t about your world
It ain’t about the things that you do
If you don’t care, I don’t care
Cause you keep thinkin’ ’bout you
It ain’t about you takin’ my pie
You been takin’ for a long time
If you don’t care, I don’t care
If you keep
Well I ain’t thinkin’ ’bout you
Oh no no, I ain’t thinkin’ ’bout you
Oh no

What up yo, word to the badd

Thinkin’ about that pie that you’ve been takin’ from me
From a brother to another brother hard to believe
Lost and don’t know it yet you still show it
Givin’ seems to be harder than it is to receive
The glass has gotten shady, time to make it clearer,
Clean it up and lets start with the Man in the mirror.
Theres sadness there brother, aint no mistaken it,
Get a grip cause youre not far from breakin it.
Thinkin about the time when we used to be close,
It shouldnt be past tense, cause nobody knows,
What the future may hold, what tomorrow might bring,
Its not guaranteed that youll be spreading your wings

But meanwhile, I continue to smile, cause in the back of my head,
I know you’re still a child
You say that your a man, but that will never be
(cant figure out what the rest says)

Gone too far, ya better turn back, I know who you are
You know where Im at, sad but its true, from me to you.
Pick up the phone, Dont be alone, step off the throne, come back home.

That right there, I wouldn’t call it a diss. It’s the opposite, LOVE and concern for his blood brother. That sounds like me telling my brother when he’s tripping, and him telling me when I’m tripping. We “check” each other all of the time because we want each other to shine, flourish and live the most righteous and pain-free life that we can.

That’s brotherly love at its finest. Just a little too out-in-the-public, that’s all.

Tell your brother or sister anything, but please don’t air your dirty laundry to the public. Mother and Father will tell you the exact same thing … if they haven’t already. Like it or not, brother Jermaine and sister LaToya has some serious problems.

i think it is brotherly love but at the same time i think there’s a bit of jealousy.i mean sometimes you have to put it out there for people to understand where u comin from but at the same time it can worsen things…u know being that michael was already being judged by the public..its even worse when its family

Naw, homie above that’s a grade above sneek dissin’ because he basically went @ him hard (pause), but @ the end he was basically sayin’ we brothers so come on home. Success breeds jealousy, and isn’t he the one who keeps saying it should have been him? He probably feels guilty. Joe did a number on them kids, man….

THIS VERSION WAS NEVER RELEASED! …but no doubt he was going at Mike in a harsh manner in this one, but i suppose it’s just how he felt at the time. MJ was beginning to distance himself from the brothers more than ever before. On The Jackson’s final album as a group (2300 Jackson Street), MJ only appeared on the title track to the album…which was rare. but fuck all this bullshit…i’ll fight with my brothers all day, but at the end of the day i love them, kill for them, and would die for them…so i understand Jermaine’s frustration.

  8. July 27, 2009 5:17 pm

SMFH@ yall people saying this is “brotherly love”. Do all yall niggas come from dysfunctional families or somethin? Your “brother” doesn’t air you out in the public to express his concern. He keeps it within the family and deals with you directly.

I remember reading an interview with janet and she was talking about how she wasnt speaking to jermaine because of this song. I feel what hes saying but family shit should be dealt within the family and thats basicly why janet was mad. plus theres 2 sides to the story aways….kinda sounds like he was made MJ wasnt putting him on or something and i know that the brothers were mad about him not being with J5 anymore but shit i see it like MJ wanted to do his own thang..and they shoulda 2…i mean jermaine aint that weak…lol i just think MJ was going thru hella shit with the fame, vitiligo, lupus and the pepsi shit…in the article janet also spoke about latoya and her book so this must have been around the same time and mike n toya was hella close…so he probly was like fuck everyone except janet and rebbie…Janet also said that her, rebbie and there mom was the only ones who know mike had vitiligo until he did oprah so he probly did think he was just turing his self white at this time

P.s. latoya and jermaine got middle child syndrome….they be the first ones doing interview and shit and they did MJ the worse! this nigga talkn bout he wish it was him but was tryin to sell a tell all bout talking about mjs drug us and that he seen him being foul with titos kids and latoya ass had to get carried out of UCLA when he died and she was the 1 talking about how mj was a virgin and pedofie!! aint that a bitch… feeling guilty? lol

Let all of us be real (for a change). Michael Jackson, as it turns out,was not the dysfunctional one in the Jackson clan. We are a people in the global community; nevertheless, we must conclude, however reluctantly, that we are not a monolithic entity on this clave. “Brother Benedict Arnold”, has tunnel vision when it comes to his deceased brother. Michael’s focus was on the world! Dissect his contributions to it, and I’m sure that most of you would agree. Black is beautiful, but it sure as heck isn’t solitary. Starting in the Jackson clan, we need to get off this “If you don’t do it like I want you to, you are a loser, a nobody, etc.” The world has a lot of positive opinons about Michael Jackson ….. unfortunately, LaToya and Jermaine didn’t get the memo. By the way, that nondescript, trashy recording serves only one purpose, and that is to perpetuate the dysfuntionality of Michael’s detractors (in and out of his family).

Please read and research before assuming negative thoughts about someone. Michaeal did not set out to change his color. He had vitiligo and lupus. It all started happening around the time they did the pepsi commercial. If you know anything about those diseases, you would know that stress brings them to the forefront. As a major recording star Michael’s appearance was or would have been affected. He had to take drastic masures to conceal what was happening to him. He wasn’t trying to turn white. Vitiligo and lupus were turning him white and he could nothing about it. Michael had universal vitligo! NO only that, that burn left a massive scare in his head. He did not have hair on the top of his head. He had to wear weaves and wigs. He had to wear make up to cover the dark blotches. He did not tell anyone about the disease except his mother and older sister for fear that it would get in the media. After the disease, Michael really did become more reclusive, especially with women, for fear that they would see his body. LIsa Marie commented that after they were married, he would go to bed with full body make up. How sad! This song came out before Jermaine knew about the disease. ( I do agree, however, that they should have bombareded his estate and beat the hell out of him just to bring him back to his senses when it came to family – regardless to how dysfunctional they may be. Family is family, dammit 🙂 Love me some Jacksons!) Mike did NOT forget. See the song, “They Don’t Really Care About Us”. He knew! I’ve been researching, and the brother was BAAAAD!!!!!
As for Jermaine and the other brothers, they are all talented, but they lack one thing- FIRE in their gut. Michael had it. He had Fire , Imagination and determination.

“You changed your shade”????? Is he saying Mike didn’t have a skin disorder? Cause I’ve seen Janet in an interview confirm Mike did have that disorder (can’t remember the name but it starts with a v) and she said it was in their family and that he wasn’t the only one in the famly that had it. I’ve always believed Mike when he said he had a skin disorder and couldn’t go out in the sun, why the hell else would he be walking around with umbrellas all the time? Sounds like Jermaine was sipping on the haterade. In later years he seemed to have come around tho, I guess. I’ve seen Jermaine do lots of interviews where he had Michael’s back. What year was this song made anyway?

HMMM! I remember interviews and comments made by Latoya and Jermaine over the years where clearly these certain family members were jealous of michael. they were always in his shadow and resented that to a point, in my opinion.
I dont think there are too many people in michaels life that didnt betray him on some level and he never once ever had anything negative to say about any of them.
they are all his “friend” now and want the world to know how important he was to them.
Michael was a superstar with extremely high integrity, dignity and a huge love for mankind who never lost site of his goal for a better world.
Steven Spielberg said it best…..”michael came from a beautiful place (n the way that he saw things) and i wish we could all live in his world for a little while”.

I beliieve that Jermaine Jackson is a hypocrit, and jealous of micheal’s success, that’s why jermaine decided to talk trash about micheal. Now all of a sudden jermaine wants to play like he loved micheal so much. I understand why micheal distanced himself from all of them except for janet and katherine, whom I believe really loved and cared about micheal for who he was. the rest of them are only trying to make a buck! Jermaine can’t even complete a sentence, If you ask me he sounds like he may be on drugs!

actually Michael distanced himself from his whole family except for his mother. Janet had said on many interviews back in Michael’s touring days that she hadn’t talked to Michael for at least 2 years, and had never met his babies. Michael had no one to trust except for his mother. Too sad.

Michael was sickened by the behavior of his dad and brothers while they were tour. He often said that the brothers were just going through the motions, and that they were often cheatied on their wives. (even his dad did it) He hated it and wanted to distance himself from their “sinful/ devilish” ways. During those early days, he was a devout Jehovah’s Witness, and truly believed that sex outside of marriage would send you straight to hell and he wanted no part of that. He never hated his brothers, he just didn’t like their behavior and work ethics. And as for Jermaine, they WERE very close, but he often said that ” Jermaine was wishy-washy” you could not always rely on him because he would change his mind mid-stream” and do his own thing. (Jermaine was truly jealous of Michael for “taking” his thunder.

Jermaine had crossed the line! it’s uncalled for to make it public, comeon, to go through so much trouble to write a song to “reach out” to the little bro? I don’t think so, it’s another case of 15 mins of fame for Jermaine, he released it around the time Michael had Bad out, Jermaine just had to rub off of Michael whichever way he could! it aint’ love there people! just jealousy and greed. Michael now that you’re in heaven and please just remember that we’ll always love you!

  26. August 17, 2009 6:26 am

I think Jermaine is upset because of Michaels success. Maybe because he was the lead singer for the jackson five and Michael took it over. I dont know but they should work it out and quit the childish act. Michael act childlike but not childish and I’m Sure Jermaine could sort out their difference but its too late for that now

Sorry – but I have ALWAYS thought that Jermaine was huge phony who talks out of both sides of his mouth about Michael.

I remember when this song first came out (I think it was about 1991) and, Jermaine got on one talk show after another, smiling pleasantly, looking the interviewer in the eye and saying in a calm, level voice that this song was NOT about Michael but about gang members and street hoods who thought they were “bad” – in other words, he straight up LIED.

Later on, of course, he admitted that the song WAS about Michael but, that he only recorded it because he was upset that MIchael hadn’t spoken to him and wouldn’t return his calls for months. Gee, I wonder why???

I also recently read that Jermaine even tried to blame LA Reid and Babyface (the song’s producers), claiming that they had “tricked” him into making this song.

Then, during Michael’s 2005 molestation trial, Jermaine couldn’t say enough nice things about Michael. Then after Michael was acquitted, showed his true colors by trying to publish a nasty tell-all book about Mike for money, Then, when MIchael found out about it and blew up, Jermaine backed off like a snake and claimed that the co-author, Stacy Brown, “tricked” him into writing a negative book about his brother.

Now, after Michael’s death, Jermaine was crying crocodile tears for every news camera he could find but, is now trying to profit off his death and boost his own career with a “memorial” concert that he promoted and organized but, didn’t bother to ask either his family or the “celebrities” who has supposedly agreed to participate AND releasing his own version of “Smile” (which is nowhere near as good as MIke’s)

And, what’s all this sh*t about “taking my pie”???

Brotherly love?? As Tina Turner said “What’s Love Got To Do With It?”

This song isn’t an expression of love – it’s an ode to deep-seated bitterness, resentment and
    envy – plain and simple.
    Brotherly love

    • September 6, 2009 9:30 pm

I couldn’t have said it better myself. The brothers and the father were all angry with Michael because he wanted to do his own thing. Michael was still living at home with his parents at age 30. Even then Joe was trying to tell him what he had better do. Michael didn’t want to do the Pepsi commercial, but he did it for his greedy ass brothers and father. Michael said that he had a bad feeling about the whole thing. They didn’t care, all they cared about was the 5 million dollars.

What did the brothers do with their money before Michael went solo? I am sure they had the same as Michael. Then they were angry about his success. It irritated me to see Jermaine lying to the media and the public, saying that he was Michael’s backbone. Yet you wrote an ugly song and a tell all (the lies you can) book about him. None of the family would be where they are now if it wasn’t for Michael. Sadly, they are tryin to cash in on his death just like Joe!

AGREED!!! Michael never turned his back on his family per se. He did deal with the BS and foolishness. They brothers were living lavishly, but were making any money to sustain themself. They NEEDED michael to caring them. Talented – Yes! Gutsy – NO!. Michael gave any money that the family needed to his mother, and she made sure that things were handled properly. Mike often said that his dad and brothers were blowing away their money left and right and that he wasn’t going to foot their bills. He saved the Havenhurst home that they call the “compound” by purchasing it when Joe almost lost it in a bad deal. Mike was a good person. Somebody had to have a good head in the family – my goodness!!!

For those who don’t know they changed the name because Jermaine got puzzy whipped and left the group to stay at Motown…Moving on: Jermaine probably always had issues with MJ. For one HE was supposed to be the lead singer in the group. He’s probably sat back all those years thinking “That was supposed to be me! It is not that hard to believe that Jermaine was jealouse of Michael ……. MJ was way more talented than all of the rest of his family. To me this shows where Jermaine’s heart was. It is said that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. No wonder MJ did not want to work with the J5 anymore. In addition according to MJ, Thome Thome was brought into his life by his brother Jermaine and MJ was leery of TT…….. It is a shame that you could see it in his brothers face the contempt that he had and has for MJ. All of a sudden he says that he wants to carry on the legacy that MJ built ……. He must really feel good that he is finally in the spotlight. If you watch motown 25, MJ says ” It feels good to be here with my brothers, including Jermaine” There seemed to be something going on between them eventhough they performed together that night. Then on another note, there is a video on youtube where MJ asked LaToya what her goal in life was and she clearly says “I want what you have” MJ looked so embarrased and she repeated it twice. However to me Jermaine takes the cake trying to profit off of his brothers death doing tribute concerts and the like. Money is the root of all evil !!!!!!!!!

I have said it before and I will continue to scream out about Jeraisin and his ilk. This sorry coattail riding greasy mofo has been jealous of Michael forever. I would not be surprised if this plastic fake ass bastard even had anything to do with Michael’s murder (his death is ruled a homicide). Trust, Mr Murray is not alone in this mess. These alleged tributes to his brother are all in the name of jermaine. He is using his brother’s passing as a platform to gain wealth and notoriety because he has NOTHING to offer by himself. Ever since Michael passed, we have seen his ugly mug every where looking like Max Heardroom with a box covered in shoe polish on his head. He has the audacity to claim he was his brother’s mouth piece and his backbone. GTFOH!! No the hell he was not.

He needs to know that even though Michael is no longer here, he will NEVER EVER takes Michael’s place in our hearts. He will NEVER acquire the fame Michael has and will never have the legacy Michael left behind. Michael will live on thru fans like me who have been with him (through it all) since the age of nine. I am not going anywhere and I have had more loyalty towards Michael than some of his own damn family members. If others cannot see what a fraud Jeraisin is they are blind. This ass needs to go somewhere and get a real job or find another gimmick where he is NOT using his brother’s name. He has no shame. Take care of your kids your sorry ass self, Jermange. Move out of (Michael’s) home with your mom and get your own. You dissed Michael in public to get money and fame but it backfired on you and you haven’t had ANYTHING since then. Now, you want to live confortably off of HIS money. SMH you LaToya and that pimp wannabe Joe are all nuts and have no morals.

No wonder Michael distanced himself. May be FINALLY be at peace.

That is love right there. We are’nt in that family, but we all seen what went down or at least can speculate on most of what we seen from the media with the Jacksons. This is equivelant to an intervention of some sorts.

Gee guys, you all have to CHILL!!!! This song was done decades ago. Siblings fight but at the end of the tunnel, family will always be family. They fought, made up…THIS IS HISTORY!!! What’s the use of talking about something that already belongs in the past. Michael forgave La Toya, and has always said in his interviews that family will always be family. Let us all CHILL!!!

I never heard this song back in the day. I don’t look at this as Jermaine being jelous of Michael in no shape or form. It sounds to me like a brother who is concern for his younger brother. Yes, maybe he could have left some of the things out. Jermaine loved and still love Michael. None of us was in this family and don’t know what the hell was going on at the time Jermaine recorded this song. I Love Michael but Michael wasn’t ferfect. In this song, Jermaine sounds more hurt than angry. How I wish Michael would have just listen to him.

I am absolutely livid, shocked and angry about this.
I put myself in Michael’s place and I would feel ultimate betrail, hurt and pain and Michael has been through enough of this during his life time, he doesn’t need adding to it by his own flesh and blood, the fact Jermaine did this has really lowered my estimation of him.
Never thought that Michael’s older brother whom out of all his brothers he felt closest too could be this cold and cruel, sure siblings squabble and have fights but it’s a whole other ball game when it’s put out there for the whole world to see.,

I will never understand all the haters! So much negativity directed at one person throughout his lifetime!

Any other MJ fans out there planning to watch the TV Guide Network’s upcoming Michael Jackson special, Gone Too Soon, on June 25th? I’m really looking forward to it!

    Check it out:

That is wrong but he is concerned him and Latoya betrayed him Latoya’s husband made her turn on her own blood but it was for Michael’s safety if she didn’t he would kill him
