Yeh, since when did Black people start claiming Dominicans? You are right when you say that many Dominicans don’t claim their “Blackness”, but that’s because not all Dominicans are dark skinned. But, there are some of us that do recognize that we had slaves on our island, so we definitely have some African American ancestors, but when I (as a Dominican woman) have tried to claim my “Blackness” to Black people, I am shut down quickly…so Black people, make up your mind…not that we need to be accepted by any group, because in reference to what GOODSOULOVE stated, no one needs to claim us. We have something more than the “goods” claimed in your comment- we have culture, and that’s something that most other groups, especially Americans, don’t have.
