LaBruzzo considering plan to pay poor women $1,000 to have tubes tied

by Mark Waller, The Times-Picayune

Worried that welfare costs are rising as the number of taxpayers declines, state Rep. John LaBruzzo, R-Metairie, said Tuesday he is studying a plan to pay poor women $1,000 to have their Fallopian tubes tied.

“We’re on a train headed to the future and there’s a bridge out, ” LaBruzzo said of what he suspects are dangerous demographic trends. “And nobody wants to talk about it.”

LaBruzzo said he worries that people receiving government aid such as food stamps and publicly subsidized housing are reproducing at a faster rate than more affluent, better-educated people who presumably pay more tax revenue to the government. He said he is gathering statistics now.

“What I’m really studying is any and all possibilities that we can reduce the number of people that are going from generational welfare to generational welfare, ” he said.

He said his program would be voluntary. It could involve tubal ligation, encouraging other forms of birth control or, to avoid charges of gender discrimination, vasectomies for men.

It also could include tax incentives for college-educated, higher-income people to have more children, he said.

LaBruzzo, 38, is white, married to a lawyer, has a toddler daughter and holds a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University.

He is serving his second term in the Legislature, where he drew attention this year for advocating the controversial legislative pay raise and for trying to abolish the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Commission and its Police Department.

His 81st House District runs from Old Metairie north to Bucktown and west along Lake Pontchartrain to the Suburban Canal. In a somewhat different configuration, it is the same district that sent white supremacist David Duke to the Legislature in 1989.

LaBruzzo described the tube-tying incentive as a brainstorming exercise that has yet to take form as a bill for the Legislature to consider. He said it already has drawn critics who argue the idea is racist, sexist, unethical and immoral. He said more white people are on welfare than black people, so his proposal is not targeting race.

LaBruzzo said other, mainstream strategies for attacking poverty, such as education reforms and programs informing people about family planning issues, have repeatedly failed to solve the problem. He said he is simply looking for new ways to address it.

“It’s easy to say, ‘Oh, he’s a racist, ‘ ” LaBruzzo said. “The hard part is to sit down and think of some solutions.”

LaBruzzo said he opposes abortion and paying people to have abortions. He described a sterilization program as providing poor people with better opportunities to avoid welfare, because they would have fewer children to feed and clothe.

He acknowledged his idea might be a difficult sell politically.

“I don’t know if it’s a viable option, ” LaBruzzo said. “Of course people are going to get excited about it. Maybe we’ll start a debate on it.”

A plan like this is actually in three layers.

Their are a group of elitetist who firmly belive in population control by any means neccessary, espically for people of color.

This in their mind would preserve power for the white race who currently has the least amount of children. Widespread disease, abortion, sterilization are some of the methods used to achieve their cause. Planned Parenthood is the cheif vechicle. The ilumanti has plans to fully control procreation in the near future. Very similar to what china is doing by killing female offspring.

Thirdly it is the masterplan of the antichrist to stand against what Christ has called holy and make it perverse. I’m glad you put this guy on my radar. If we can afford a 300 billion dollar war in Iraq, we can feed the poor, espically our children. When we sacrifice our children we are commiting murder and idolatry.

I wonder, is it possible bailout money for the airlines, auto industry, wall street and so forth could be considered welfare?

What I really want to know is, out of all that brainstorming WHO exactly came up with this great idea and what is his/her political background and true motives… This LaBruzzo guy obviously isn’t smart enough to come up with such an idea and support it with such sqeaky “clean” support..

i dont think this is a bad idea at all. ilive in a town where everybody and they baby daddy is related to each other. u got teenage dudes running around here with 6, 7, 8 kids that they taking care of and thats with 7 different women. *smh*i see young girls that should be getting an education worry about keeping a child for nigga that dont want them in hopes that he would have a change of heart. i know a family that had 6 kids and 5 different baby dads!!!!!!!!!! are u friggin serious. if u got to welfare office i see mothers dolled up in the lates gear and they got they kids looking like those “christian fellowship kids that need food and school books for $24 a day”. There’s parents that use they kids to get ahead of the game, and to me these people dont deserve to have such a God Given blessing. then u have the ones that are so stupid and that still dont use protection in this day and age and can barely take care of one kid and having another one on top of that.
I see what WAKE UP was saying but a woman tying her tubes isn’t murder. im not saying that the government should regulate how many kids a woman should have, but what i am saying is that as A MUTHAFUCKIN TAX PAYER IM TIRED OF PAYING FOR THESE CHICKS THAT DONT DO SHIT EXCEPT OPEN THEY LEGS AND CHASE MEN. I BUST MY ASS WORKING 2 JOBS AND AINT NO ONE GIVING ME NO HAND OUT. if women dont want to tie their tubes i feel that the government should regulate the welfare rules. i dont think its fair for someone to be on welfare, year after year after year because they can.
These kids didnt ask to be brought into this chaotic world, so why should they suffer at the hands of someone careless and stupid. If u can’t take care of a kid and i dont mean having them laced in the newest and most brand named clothes. i mean nuturing and raising that child with love and God’s teachings and respect for all then u dont need to have that blessing. because thats what children are a blessing not a welfare check and not ammunition for the baby daddy and momma drama.

    @ Panther

From one Tax paying USA citizen to another.. I feel you.

Niggas think makin a baby aint really shit. I met up wit a dood that wanted me to support his music career and his complaint was that he has 7 different kids by 7 different women and he needs to make money to pay for these kids, like its a bill or something. He was living wit a junkie stripper, his c.d. wasnt good at all, but he fit the stereotypical young black man. He creates problems and all he can do is try to sell me on his dreams, when I dont “believe” in those dreams all of a sudden I’m “just like them” (the whites he accuses of causing his problems). I’m like look dood, aint nobody gave me shit, I had to work and hustle ( 4 real hustle)for my every opportunity. I should have went to school (colledge) but I didnt so I got to work 3 times harder than someone half as talented as me but who has more education. The unfortunate moral of this story is that this young “rapper” is hustlin crack and weed, which he will end up going to prison and his kids are going to grow up, bitter and mad at a system but in actuallity its is their dads and moms fault for not being responsible.

Another very close friend of mine, lives wit his babys mom who has a good job. This friend is chasing the dream of a rapper but he barely wants to work at it. He is good, I mean really good but he expects some one to do all of the work for him. I offered to manage his career and do all of the foot work with out signing any contacts or for any money cause I just want to see he make it, but he refused, saying he want a big boy manager or attorney,, Im like cool, he my dood no matter what. The problem I see is that he says his daughter and baby’s mom as a “ball and chain” holding him back, but his baby’s mom has been supporting him thru all of the arrests and robberies. This dood has never had a job in the 8 years (since 17 yrs) that Ive know him, but he blames society on his problems. His daughter only sees a dad who is at home all of the time, and being older 11 years older and a father to a daughter I try to put him up on game, but again he “aint tryin to hear the shit Im sayin cuz he gonna be rich and everybody is gonna suck his dick”. Its a million and one artists and producers out there, I tell him that Ive lived the music dream and was sucessfull, now Im working in a corporate job thats not even related to the music bussiness. He has to prepare his self for that reality if he doesnt make it, his babys mom aint gonna support him 4 ever and his work ethic isnt strong enough to make it in the competitive music bussiness.. He thinks he knows everything,, I got mad luv fo my nigga, but he is soon to be another statistic.

the idea aint that bad at all,if you look at the situation he is tryin to address at hand and you will see that he is actually doin the community a favor.i mean not everyone is a christian so you talkin about what jesus is sayin aint crossin many minds now a days.alot of lower income kids are gettin pregnant and have no choice .and rather the family helpin out most of the time ,they dont.with kids your less likely to get an education.the father/mother see the child as a mistake so they dont wanna help nor have a a job. before yall dimiss the idea becasue you dont wanna consider yourself lower income or POOR think about it. yall talk about how much you love this country and what not.think about how much it will flourish if everyone could succeed to a high standard of livin.the can only be some many hair stores and beauty salons with non-qualified people workin there and flea markets are full now.as a black person ,im sayin we need to take over.believe it or not, they consider us a step under mexicans now(not to be to mean to mexicans)but it doesnt get no damn worse then to be considered lower than a mexican and they are more likely to succeed ,most of them not even knowing how to speak a lick of english.

    THINK ABOUT IT

“He said more white people are on welfare than black people, so his proposal is not targeting race.”

Enough said IMO. I dunno how viable it is either but I support it lol……if you’re poor with more than 3 kids and you can barely take of them do it smh. This should be tried nationwide lol.

Not so far fetched. As a single black mother.

    To the women:

Getting pregnant to keep a guy is like not washing your dishes to keep the flies away…SMHLIHAHA!!!

(Shaking my head like I’m having a heart attack!!!)

    To the guys:

If you’re not into raising a family…the eight seconds isn’t worth the eighteen years.

    To John LaBruzzo:

Vascetomies and tubal ligation may sound like a novel idea, but absolves them of even the miniscule responsibilities that they have. Also, I’m sure you’ll agree with me that corporate welfare is on the hundreds more wasteful than personal welfare.

My two cents have melted together.
